Educational use only — not medical advice

Pathology Pilot is an educational decision-support tool for surgical pathologists, fellows, residents, and other qualified medical professionals. It does not provide medical advice, diagnose disease, or replace the judgement of a qualified pathologist or treating clinician. Final interpretation of any case rests solely with the qualified professional. Do not rely on Pathology Pilot to make patient care decisions in isolation.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("you," "your," or "User") and Pathology Pilot ("we," "us," or "the Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or otherwise using Pathology Pilot — including the website, web application, and any associated APIs (collectively, the "Service") — you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a notice in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 years of age and a medical professional, trainee, or student in a health-sciences program to use the Service. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that we believe have been registered with false information, used in violation of these Terms, or used in a manner that risks harm to other users, patients, or third parties.

3. No medical advice; no diagnosis

Pathology Pilot generates ranked differential diagnoses based on the signals (clinical, gross, microscopic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features) that you input. The output is an educational reference, not a definitive diagnosis. The Service:

  • Does not establish a doctor-patient relationship between you and us.
  • Does not replace histopathologic examination of glass slides, ancillary studies, or clinicopathologic correlation.
  • Does not guarantee the accuracy, currency, or completeness of any diagnostic content, IHC panel, molecular finding, or therapeutic recommendation.
  • Is not intended for direct patient care, treatment planning, or as the sole basis of any clinical decision.

You are responsible for using your professional judgement and for complying with all applicable standards of care, hospital policies, and laws of the jurisdiction in which you practice.

4. Subscriptions, billing & Lemon Squeezy

The Service offers a free preview (limited organs) and a paid Pro tier that unlocks the full library. All billing for paid plans is processed by Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC), an authorized third-party merchant of record. By starting a subscription, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's terms and privacy policy, available at lemonsqueezy.com/legal.

Pricing. Current pricing is displayed in the Service before checkout (presently US$16/month for the monthly Pro plan; annual plan availability may vary). Prices may change with prior notice; existing subscriptions will continue at their original price until renewal.

Automatic renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) using the payment method on file, until cancelled. We will not charge you outside the published price without your consent.

Taxes. Prices are exclusive of applicable VAT, GST, sales tax, or similar levies, which Lemon Squeezy may collect on our behalf where required by law.

5. Cancellation & refunds

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Manage subscription button on the /billing page (which opens the Lemon Squeezy customer portal). Cancellation stops future renewals; you retain Pro access through the end of the current paid period.

Refunds. Because Pro access provides immediate digital benefit, all payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law (for example, certain EU/UK consumer-protection rights). If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@pathologypilot.app within 14 days of the charge and we will review your request in good faith. Refunds, when granted, are issued through Lemon Squeezy to the original payment method.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, your account may be marked past_due and Pro features may be suspended until payment is updated. Repeated failure may result in cancellation.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for direct patient care, in lieu of professional review, or to substitute for a licensed pathologist's sign-out.
  • Upload, paste, or otherwise transmit any Protected Health Information (PHI), personally identifying patient data, or any data subject to HIPAA, GDPR, or equivalent regulations. The Service is designed to receive de-identified clinical signals only.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the diagnostic database, question bank, or scoring algorithms.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute access to the Service.
  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any person, or to violate any law.
  • Interfere with the Service's operation, attempt unauthorized access, probe for vulnerabilities (other than via a published responsible-disclosure channel), or exceed published rate limits.
  • Use the Service to train, fine-tune, or benchmark machine-learning models without our prior written consent.

Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including all underlying software, the curated organ catalog, decision-tree questions, diagnostic write-ups, IHC panels, molecular profiles, pitfall library, scoring algorithms, design system, copy, logos, and arrangement of content, is the exclusive property of Pathology Pilot and its licensors. It is protected by copyright, trademark, trade-secret, and other intellectual-property laws worldwide.

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own professional educational purposes. No other rights are granted. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

User content. Saved cases, feedback, and any other content you submit remain yours. By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, host, and process it solely to operate and improve the Service. We will never publish your individual cases or feedback without your consent.

8. Privacy & data handling

Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the processing described there.

No PHI

The Service is not a HIPAA-covered platform. Do not enter any identifying patient data. Any clinical signals you select are stored in association with your account but must be free of names, MRNs, dates of birth, accession numbers, or any other patient identifiers.

9. Termination

By you. You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion by emailing support@pathologypilot.app. Cancelling a subscription does not by itself delete your account; deletion is a separate request.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately and without notice if you breach these Terms, if continued provision would expose us to legal liability, or if required by law. For non-material issues we will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify you first.

On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive (Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law, and any payment obligations already accrued) survive termination.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT ANY DIAGNOSTIC CONTENT IS CURRENT, COMPLETE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR ANY PARTICULAR CASE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL PATHOLOGY PILOT, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (b) US$100.

NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW (FOR EXAMPLE, LIABILITY FOR GROSS NEGLIGENCE, FRAUD, OR DEATH/PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY OUR NEGLIGENCE).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pathology Pilot and its affiliates from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (i) your use or misuse of the Service, (ii) your violation of these Terms, (iii) your violation of any third-party right (including PHI / privacy rights), or (iv) clinical decisions you or any third party make based on the Service.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of the operator's principal place of business, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. The parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in that jurisdiction for any dispute not subject to arbitration. Where required by local consumer law, your statutory rights in your country of residence are not affected.

14. Miscellaneous

Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.

Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Contact. Questions, complaints, or notices may be sent to support@pathologypilot.app.
